The Versatile Blogger Award….

One of my blogger buddies, Yertle was so nice to award me with the Versatile Blogger Award .   If you are not familiar with her site, be sure to pay her a visit. She posts great stories and her photographs are amazing. I truly look out for Yertle’s posts every day.

There are some strings attached to accepting the award… The award works like a chain letter. So by accepting the award, I have to share 7 blogs that I love (along with sharing 7 things about myself). I subscribe to a lot of my blogs and it was difficult to limit my choices to just 7….I could honestly add another 10+ blogs to this list.

7 Blogs I Love:

Savvy Entertaining features “Fun and Simple Tips for Entertaining at Home”. Shanna shares great recipes and tablescapes.

Sweet Life features incredible Latin recipes with a modern twist.

Norah Loves Makeup is a great site to follow too. She features tips for makeup and fashion (along with product reviews too).

Finuca features sophisticated posts about home decor, books and food.

Latinaish is a great blog about her multi-cultural family. Her suegra stories are the best! There are many days where her posts make me laugh out loud when I read them.

Her Deep Thoughts is a blog that features stories meant to inspire the reader. The photography is great and I look forward to her Wordless Wednesday posts.

(Tienes) Una Cabeza de Coco is a blog that features posts on many topics. She writes great stories about life/relationships and informative posts about social media.

7 Things About Me:

1. Blogging about Spices is a my hobby.  My professional career is technology related.  My days get busy and cooking is very de-stressing for me.  Blogging has been a great outlet for me.  In a few weeks, I will be celebrating my 1 year blogiversary.

2. My favorite book of all time is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Also, I have read and love all of Lisa Scottoline’s books. I am currently reading Conquistadora written by Esmeralda Santiago.

3. Playing the piano is another hobby of mine. I wish I had more time for this… My favorite piece to play is “Malaguena” by Ernesto Lecuona.

3. Living a healthy lifestyle is very important to my family. I plan healthy meals and do intense cardio work outs 4-5 x a week. My favorite workout is the Turbo Jam DVD series…which I usually have to do very early in the morning.

4. I come from a family of all girls. Raising boys is a very eye-opening experience. Love it!

5. My husband is definitely my soul mate.

6. I am really scared of thunderstorms.

7. I talk in my sleep.

If you accept the blogger award from me, you have to follow this same template: choose 7 bloggers, and share 7 unknown things about yourself.

Enjoy!

Gypsy World Spice Cafe Blog – January 2011 News

Tomorrow our family celebrates 3 Kings Day (also known as the Epiphany). For our family, 3 Kings Day signifies the end of the holiday season and we will start to put away all the holiday glitz.

It seems as though this year the holidays flew by a little more quickly than usual. It may be a lot of work, but I enjoy every minute and every task…. Life passes by quickly and the holidays are opportunities to embrace the moment with those that you love…

Now, the new year is here with a reminder for us to revisit our goals/dreams and define resolutions for 2011.

Are your resolutions in line with your dreams?

Dreams are fulfilled by never losing sight of them. Resolutions are ideas to keep us on the path to our dream. Sometimes these ideas work and sometimes they do not. However, with each experience comes an opportunity to appreciate what we have, grow, learn and give back.

2011 Goals for Gypsy World Spice Cafe

*Monthly articles featuring both every day and exotic spices

*Original recipes good food….good memories

*Introduce Gypsy World Spice Cafe Spice Blends

Be sure to take time to revisit your dreams and put some thought into the resolutions that you make.

Enjoy!

Gypsy World Spice Cafe Blog – December 2010 News

The holiday season is in full swing!  I particularly love the December holiday season which brings back great memories of wonderful family traditions.   Christmas Eve is the big December holiday for my family.   It is when our family gathers together to exchange gifts, eat and have fun.  Christmas is typically our day to relax and recover from the night before.  This year, Christmas takes on a bigger meaning because we will be celebrating the first birthday of my niece born on Christmas Day 2009.

In December 2010, Gypsy World Spice Cafe will focus on both traditional and contemporary recipes that highlight the holiday spices.  The recipes will continue to focus on things that you can make (or take) for holiday entertaining (along with recipes that save time because you are busy with all the tasks that the holidays season brings with it).  I’m really excited about all the research for this month’s spice article and the recipes that I plan to post throughout the month.

This past Thanksgiving, we went away to see family.  On the drive back home, I was thinking about the holidays and realized that it is very interesting how the Thanksgiving theme is a natural transition into the December holidays. Thanksgiving reminds us to be grateful for all of the people and events that have made an impact on our lives while the December holidays provide opportunities to appreciate everything that we are grateful for.

What is the difference between being grateful and being appreciative?  Well, being appreciative is very similar to being grateful.  The big difference is that being appreciative is the act of fully recognizing what you are grateful for (versus just saying you are thankful).  As the old saying goes, ”Actions speak louder than words”.

It dawned on me that New Years ties it all together.  Could it be that all of these opportunities we have to be grateful and appreciative for are actually helping us define what our 2011 goals should be?

Hmmm.  Now that’s a thought…

Have a great holiday season!

Enjoy!
